Prevention Practices

To prevent the spread of COVID-19 we will follow the recommendations from the New York State Department of Health (DOH) and the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Details

Arrival

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to class start time.  Students will be asked to line up outside of the center with masks for temperature check and admission to the center.  Parents are not allowed in the center.

Dismissal

Students will be lined up outside of the center for pick up by parent/guardian/caretaker at the conclusion of the workshop.

Health Checks

  • Daily temperature screenings of all students and staff, along with a daily screening questionnaire for faculty and staff is required.
  • Staff or students with a temperature, signs of illness and/or a positive response to the questionnaire will be quarantined and supervised, prior to being picked up or otherwise sent home. 
  • Students with any COVID-19 symptoms and/or a temperature of 100 degrees will  be sent home.

Hygiene Practices

  • Hand washing and/or sanitizing stations readily available throughout the center.
  • Hand-washing routine for students(e.g., upon entering/exiting, before/after eating, after working in groups).
  • Staff will monitor the bathroom to ensure social distancing and hygiene protocols are followed.

Social Distancing

  • Students will be seated 2 at a table. Tables will be spaced six feet apart. 
  • Signage will be placed throughout the center,as applicable (e.g., “Help Prevent the Spread”, “Protect Yourself”, “Wash Your Hands”, “Confined Spaces/ Limited Occupancy”, “Clean/Sanitized”, “No Entry”, etc).

Face Coverings

Students and staff are required to wear masks during their workshops.  Students will be allowed to use their own masks from home. TechExplorersBK masks will be provided.

Cleaning and Disinfection

  • Cleaning of all surfaces and equipment between workshops.  
  • Use 1:1 devices/equipment for all students.
  • Provide spray bottle cleanser and wipes. 
  • Add additional and larger trash receptacles for meals/snacks eaten in classrooms.
  • Ventilate rooms with air conditioning, windows 
  • Air Purifiers will be provided.
  • Ensure ventilation systems operate properly; increase circulation of outdoor air; maintain filters and replace according to manufacturer recommendations.
  • Nightly cleaning with electro-static misting equipment.
